A protester handed President Barack Obama a note while shaking hands along a rope line in New Hampshire today. Photographer Charlie Dharapak smartly zoomed in so you can read the note for yourself.
“Banks got bailed out. We got sold out.”
Dhaparak likely had to move, slightly to the left, to get that shot. Which means the President must have held it up long enough to read it.
President Obama, please don’t ignore this anymore. Police brutality is police brutality. Speak out against it.
Please.
What would Occupiers want, hypothetically, for the President to do immediately to help?

UC Davis police officer pepper sprays sitting students because, well, just because.
Think that’s %$#ing horrible? The video’s worse.

I’m sorry, this has gone too far. This has happened in police department after police department, and it has gone too far. Our police look like the goons in Russia and China. Please watch this video and send it to everyone you know. This has gone too far.
So is there a manual that says “if protesters block quad, peacefully, we need to pepper spray indiscriminately.”
I’m pissed.

Video footage has emerged of a police officer beating an Iraq war veteran so hard that he suffered a ruptured spleen in an apparently unprovoked incident at a recent Occupy protest in California.
The footage, which has been shared with the Guardian, shows Kayvan Sabehgi standing in front of a police line on the night of Occupy Oakland’s general strike on 2 November, when he is set upon by an officer.
He does not appear to be posing any threat, nor does he attempt to resist, yet he is hit numerous times by an officer clad in riot gear who appears determined to beat him to the ground.
Sabehgi, 32, an Oakland resident and former marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, has since undergone surgery on his spleen. He says it took hours for him to be taken to hospital, despite complaining of severe pain. Police have told the Guardian they are investigating the incident.

Really…when does “negotiation” become a tactic to consider by police? We don’t know if he was intentionally battered over the head. For all we know, it could have been an accident. But aggression leads to this. So maybe it’s time to come together as a society, a country, and talk, discuss, put down our masks, bandanas, shields, and guns to say hey “you’re probably someone’s father, uncle, brother, sister, mother, grandma…let’s get on the same page.”

An Occupy Oakland protester who was detained during Monday’s police sweep of the movement’s encampment outside City Hall is being held without bail as federal immigration authorities determine whether to move forward with deportation proceedings.Francisco “Pancho” Ramos Stierle is a 36-year-old Mexican immigrant who came to the United States six years ago to study astrophysics at UC Berkeley, friends told the San Francisco Chronicle. He’s been living in the country without legal status since he overstayed his student visa.
Stierle was one of 32 people detained during Monday’s sweep, but he’s the only one being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin because he’s an undocumented immigrant.

You’d think they would have money for better signs. These guys can afford buying the expensive stuff from Kinko’s, or whatever FedEx calls that place these days.
The guy on the right looks JUST like the guy the New York Times picked to “square off” with an Occupy Wall Street protester in early October. The multimedia segment was called “The Soft Drink Summit.”

Video posted on YouTube showcases arrests made by NYPD during the second Zuccotti Park raid in two months. One of the arrestees appears to be Hero Vincent, who you can see in this gallery from last month’s cover article in NYMag.
We (the site I manage) also profiled him for a radio story we produced for National Public Radio.
Hopefully things remain peaceful for tomorrow’s big demonstration.

Meet Dorli Rainey, the 84-Year-Old Woman Pepper Sprayed at Occupy Seattle
Broadly, Rainey has been active in politics and Seattle public life since the 1950s. A former schoolteacher, she ran for a seat on the King County Council in the 1970s and lost. During the same period, she was a school board member in Issaquah, a nearby city. Last year, she ran for mayor but eventually withdrew from the race saying, “I am old and should learn to be old, stay home, watch TV and sit still.” But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a good rapport with the current mayor. Seattle activist Dorli Rainey, 84, reacts after being hit with pepper spray during an Occupy Seattle protest on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Westlake Park. Protesters gathered in the intersection of 5th Avenue and Pine Street after marching from their camp at Seattle Central Community College in support of Occupy Wall Street. Many refused to move from the intersection after being ordered by police. Police then began spraying pepper spray into the gathered crowd hitting dozens of people. Occupy Oakland general strike protesters are heard screaming “this is not your movement” to what appear to be anarchists breaking windows, spray painting graffiti and fighting peaceful protesters.
Also, how the hell does Russia TV get their logo on every good piece of raw footage on the internet?!
