I’ve been gorging on stomach expanding foods in Vero Beach lately because there isn’t anything else around. I tried an “Organic Salmon Steak” the other day at a place called “Ocean Grill” and it was smothered in a buttery garlic mess that looked prettier than it tasted. Honestly, who screws up butter and garlic? More importantly, can someone eat healthy around these parts? Fruits, vegetables or something without a constant grease drip would suffice. I’m not necessarily provided with myriad choices, especially when “Chilis” and “Applebee’s” stain the skyline. And it makes me wonder—since the composition of Vero Beach consists of plus 65—is this how retirees live? If so, I don’t think I ever want to retire. I’m skeptical that this is normalcy in Florida, considering Vero Beach has a 24 hour Wal-Mart and anywhere with a 24 hour Wal-Mart should be cast as a dreaded hell. No worries: the family and I are on our way to Orlando, Florida this weekend to immerse ourselves in the wonderland that is Disney World…oh my. I have set foot in another world, haven’t I?
